I first heard the word "folitician" in a song by UB4o titled Hey folitician, (it's on the album UB44). Here are a few words from that song: You full of pure promise, but you tell damn lies; you make a mistake, and then somebody dies. OK, the words aren't very eloquent, but they make a valid point: many people die when politicians make misinformed decisions. The decision to invade Iraq is but one of countless examples.
Folly is defined as:
Folly is defined as:
- A lack of good sense, understanding, or foresight.
- An act or instance of foolishness: regretted the follies of his youth.
- A costly undertaking having an absurd or ruinous outcome. (from Answers.com)
Thus foliticians are politicians who are lacking in good sense, understanding, and foresight to the extent that the consequences of their policies and decisions are ruinous or absurd. George W. Bush is a contemporary example of a folitician. There is of course a distinction between foliticians and politicians with criminal minds who are also responsible for ruinous and absurd outcomes.
The aims of this blog are to air my views and to open up discussions on politics, politicians, and current affairs. Through the analyses of these topics, I also hope to elucidate my views on ignorance and stupidity which I believe are at the roots of human misery and all that is wrong in the world. My belief is that unless we can overcome our ignorance, we will bring about our own destruction, perhaps not to point of total annihilation, but certainly to the point of destruction on a massive scale.

"Psychoanalysis is less merciful than Christianity. God the Father forgives our ignorance; psychoanalysis holds out no such hope. Ignorance cannot elicit forgiveness since it conceals enjoyment; the enjoyment which erupts in those black holes in our symbolic universe which escape the Father's prohibition.
Today, with the disintegration of state socialism, we are witnessing this eruption of enjoyment in the re-emergence of aggressive nationalism and racism. With the lid of repression lifted, the desires that have emerged are far from democratic." (Slavoj Zizek, 1991, For they know not what they do).
